2015 Presentation: The Year in Numbers

First and foremost to all our readers, followers, friends and family we say a big Thank You and a Happy New Year from us to all of you. Now that that’s out of the way, I want to give you a brief overview of how the year 2015 turned out for the Soka25east family.

As successful as it was, 2015 did not come without its fair share of challenges. The month of February was our first anniversary and naturally we wanted to gather pace and set the tone for the new year. In order to do this we wanted to make sure that we deliver to you, our reader the most relevant, and timely African football news out there.

major challenges

For this, we set up a structure that allowed us to publish quality, exclusive and authoritative stories coupled with creative delivery that ensured that traffic within the site kept going up. True to this…we encountered our first major challenge in terms of hosting. In the days between June and July, our website kept crushing and going down because of the amount of traffic that we were getting during the time. This meant that we had to quickly change our hosting provider in order to cater for the growing audience.

This was a challenge and at the same time a huge victory for us because 100% of all this traffic was organic. Which means that many people were either coming to us directly by typing soka25east.com into their browsers or searching soka25east in Google, from our social media platforms or other websites. This means that we did not have to pay for our traffic. Something that tells us that our readers are finding value in the stories we present.

new faces, broader coverage

In addition to a website face-lift, 2015 also was the year where the soka25east family grew with the newest addition to the family being Bonface Osano, Austin Oduor, Aaron Mubanga Jr, Kelvin Tradeu Musako, James “Guru” Sibeleki, Bwezani Mbewe, Evans Oduor, Vicent Kakooza, Lorraine Rutto, and our very capable Swahili writer, Victor “Kaka” Abuso.

With this addition, we have been able to expand our coverage from just football news in East Africa; to coverage in East, Central, South and North Africa. We now deliver breaking news in all the major football leagues in Africa and also the latest and juiciest scoops with regards to the latest news on top national football team news in Africa.

So want to know which days rocked, which articles kicked ass and where our top readers came from? Get all the details here. Happy New Year and God Bless you all!
