The Football Kenya Federation has banned Muhoroni Stadium from hosting any “FKF sanctioned football matches” with immediate effect for security reasons.
The move comes after an incident in which visiting Nzoia United fans were allegedly attacked by the home fans and stewards during a Kenyan Premier League match at the venue on Saturday.
“The federation has moved to ban the Muhoroni Stadium with immediate effect from hosting FKF sanctioned football matches until such a time that it is satisfied that the stadium is safe for fans, players and match officials,” FKF letter reads in part.
The FKF is blaming KPL’s disciplinary body (IDCC) for failing to take decisive action against numerous cases of violence involving the club that has come before it.
“Incidences involving Muhoroni Youth have continued unabated.
“FKF is still awaiting the decision of the IDCC in regards to the case brought against the chairman of Muhoroni Youth where he was accused of storming the pitch and leading fans in causing abandonment of a match against Kakamega Homeboyz.”
The club has been instructed to immediately inform the KPL of the new venue where it will host its matches.
