Abedi watched his son Jordan Ayew make his premier league debut for Aston villa as they played Bournemouth before Andre Ayew stepped in to help Swansea to a 2-2 draw against Chelsea scoring the opener.

‘It was special to me and all Africans’ Abedi was quoted by BBC Sports.

“I had friends from all over the Continent calling so it was a big thing. It makes me feel very proud but at the same time you become tense hours before the games, you keep on praying that they don’t get injured, that they are outstanding and score.

“It is going to be a long season and these feelings will be there.” he continued. He was also instrumental in his sons move to the EPL from France where at first they both played for Marseille before Jordan switched to Sochaux and later Lorient.
