Abraham Mebratu has been officially unveiled as the new  Ethiopia Walia Ibex coach in a two year deal based on perfomance.

Mebratu takes over under new Ethiopia football federation administration led by President Esayas Jira who hopes a turn-around back to old glory days.

Mebratu who spoke exclusively to www.soka25east.com alluded to the fact that he was ready for transformation especially after being allowed to bring in his own backroom staff.

“I am indeed elated with the new role and i am optimistic things will be done positively so that we can get back the glory days when Ethiopia could qualify for AFCON.The federation has promised to give me a free hand and i will use the goodwill to try and strike a positive balance in the team”

“Former coach Sewnet Bishaw has given me important support and i want to use the same to get results since i have always followed the team progress “Mebratu said.

The 48-year-old succeeds Ashenafi Bekele, who resigned in December last year following a dismal outing in the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in Kenya.Mebratu’s   immediate task is to prepare for the resumption of AFCON 2019 in September.
