Adama Traore switches allegiance to Mali instead of Spain

Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore has chosen to represent the Mali   national team instead of Spain.

Traore started his career at Barcelona and moved to Aston Villa in 2015, before joining Middlesborough a year later, and is currently plying his trade at Wolverhampton.

The 23-year-old represented Spain’s youth teams on 20 occasions, making his debut for La Roja’s U21s in March 2018.

As the 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers start this month, Traore will look to help Mali top their group to secure qualification.

Mali have been drawn in Group A of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers with Guinea, Namibia, and Chad.

The Eagles host Guinea in their first game in the qualifiers on Thursday as they travel to face Chad three days later.
