Mr. Adelmo Wani Agustino is the new president of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) on an interim basis – taking over from Mr. Chabur Goc Alei whose term in office expired.

Adelmo, Juba Local Football Association boss was elected during SSFA’s Extraordinary General Assembly, which started Saturday 5th and concluded today, Monday 6th in Juba.

Yei Local Football Association chairman John James Wani was elected Vice President of the SSFA, while John Anthony retained his position as the Secretary General.

The meeting also dissolved the 15-member Board of Directors (BOD) till after the federation’s elections – expected to take place in April this year, when new office will be constituted.

Chabur, who outlived two coups during his 6-year stay in power, wished the new office well – promising to meet them at other forums in future.

“If you thought you could get rid of me easily, you were wrong. I thank God today the General Assembly has decided. This is a lesson for all Excos in the world, if you think it’s easy to take the authority of football by coups and false accusations, you will go nowhere.

“Once again thanks to everyone who worked with me for the last 6-years at SSFA and thanks to the General Assembly,” Chabur said.

Chabur remains tight lipped on whether he will offer himself for re-election. He is however challenging for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee Member in this month’s polls in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
