The Chief Executive Officer of Aduana Stars, Albert Commey believes his club will beat ASEC Mimosas in a CAF Confederations Cup Group A fixture away in Abidjan on Sunday.

In a match set to be staged at Stade Felix Houphouet Boigny in the neighboring Ivory Coast, Commey says the team is motivated and the players are also committed to ensuring that they progress steadily in the competition.

“We know they are a good side but we are also not underdogs. We have said we want to go far in this competition and we are working towards that target,”said Commey.

The Ghanaian champions are widely seen as the weakest in a group which comprises of three-time African champions Raja Casablanca, Asec Mimosas and A.S Vita Club, both of whom have won the Caf Champions League once.

“It is to help us achieve our goal that we have recruited striker Boubacar Soumana from Niger to beef up the team, and although we are still working on his ITC and work permit, we believe that his recruitment will prove significant in subsequent matches”, he told the Daily Graphic last Thursday.

However, the ASEC task is a much daunting one for the Ghanaians. The Ivorian team was booted out by Zambia’s Zesco United in Champions League which saw them demoted to the Confederations cup.

ASEC is one of the top experienced sides on the continent and currently have a formidable squad led by the likes of Amed Toure, Komlan Agbeniadgan and Kouame Alphonse Yao ‘Forsinho’.

The Dormaa-based club will next face Moroccan side Raja Club Athletic later this month at home, before meeting AS Vita Club of Congo DR in July at Dormaa-Ahenkro.

Aduana are yet to record any defeat at home in a Caf organized match this year, which Commey hopes his side could hold on to during the Caf Confed group stage to at least claim seven points out nine possible.
