It was very disappointing as fans failed to turn up at the Stade de Agondje Stadium on Monday to watch the Zimbabwe play against  Tunisia in the 2017 African Cup of Nations Group B last fixture.

Stade d’Angodje has a capacity of 40,000 and fans at the stadium could not even sum up to 10,000 to watch the entertaining match that had significance to the group in the battle for quarter-final slot.

This has been one of the poorest attendances in terms of fans going to watch the group matches, something that has been contributed by elimination of the tournaments hosts Gabon yesterday by Cameroon.

The attendance for the Algeria versus Senegal in the other game at Franceville was also not very impressive.

The popular seats among Gabonese fans were virtually empty, as well as the VIP seats at the other side of the field.

Soka25east interaction with some of the fans who attended the match showed that the early elimination of the hosts as well as the rains that had showered the area before, coupled by hight ticket prices were  leading factors to the poor attendance at the game.

Despite the poor attendance at the stadium, the match was entertaining although the Warriors of Zimbabwe who were favourites failed to win and as a result ,they got eliminated after falling to Tunisia 4-2.

Naim Sliti’s put Tunisia ahead before Youssef Msakni and Taha Khenissi extended the lead.

Knowledge Musona grabbed one back but a Wahbi Khazri penalty restored Tunisia’s three-goal cushion by the break.

After the game,Zimbabwe coach cited as poor officiating as the reason that his team crashed.

“We lacked concentration maybe in first minutes of the game and maybe that made us lose the game.

“You can see the way we were leaving them unattended and allowing them to shoot at goal .In the second half it was becoming better though.

“I thought also they reacted to the officiating and frustration crippled in their heads and they were doing unnecessary tackles that ended up costing us at the end of the day.” Pasuwa said.

Concerning the poor attendance at the stadium, the coach did not say anything since it is a tournament where he did not expect fans from Zimbabwe to attend but of course anyone will understand the fans for not coming because Gabon was eliminated and heavy rains that pounded the area before the start of the match.
