DR Congo and Everton winger Yannick Bolasie will miss the 2017 Nations Cup in Gabon next month as he is set to undergo knee surgery.

Bolasie, 27, injured the right anterior cruciate ligament in the 68th minute of Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United in the Premier League at Goodison Park.

He joined Everton from Crystal Palace in August, and played in every game this season.

The French-born was instrumental in the Leopards’ AFCON campaign – scoring once away to Madagascar in 6-1 win at Rakotonomenjanahary Stadium on 5th June 2016.

DR Congo, touted as among teams to beat at the tournament owing their strong squad, which boasts a galaxy of stars based in Europe, will commence group “C” campaign, 16th January 2017, against Morocco at Stade d’Oyem, Oyem.
