AFCON 2019: Kamano Penalty rescues point for Guinea against Madagascar

Madagascar conceded a penalty that denied them a famous victory on Saturday night as Guinea salvaged a 2 -2 draw in their Group B opener in Alexandria.

Francois Kamano converted from the spot after Madagascar had taken a second half 2-1 lead through Anicet Andrianantenaina and Charles Andriamahitsinoro.

Guinea started the match asking questions in the Madagascar defense and were rewarded with an opening goal in the 34th minute thanks to Sory Kaba’s lovely acrobatic dink over the Madagascar keeper, before rolling the ball into an empty net.

Guinea who were playing without injured Naby Keita looked set to register a routine win but Madagascar had other ideas.

The Islanders struck back in the 49th minute through a headed effort by Andrianantenaina from a corner.

In the 55th minute, Andriamatsinoro ran in behind the Guinea to execute a neat finish.

Guinea leveled matters on 66 minutes, Francios Kamano scoring from the spot after Ibrahima Traore was fouled in the box.

Both sides settling for a point in the end.
