Ahead of third CAF inspection visit in Cameroon, some 75,000 tons of materials from Turkey have arrived in Douala to help hasten construction  works at Japoma Stadium, one of the venues for the 2019 AFCON.

The materials include 850 pieces of pre-fabricated materials, 500 packets of iron and 25 containers of electric materials.

According to Seraphine Nkoue Zobo, who is in charge of logistics, the 850 pieces of pre-fabricated materials will be used to put up the tribunes, while the rest of the materials will be used to put up the electrical system in the complex.

Reports say, the stadium is 40 percent complete as of end of April 2018 and is scheduled to be completed before October 2018, according to Ministry of Sports and Physical Education deadline.

The 50, 000 capacity facility will comprise two training grounds, a gymnastic arena and an Olympic standard swimming pool.

There are still doubts whether the country will be ready, in terms of infrastructure, to successfully stage the expanded tournament that will now have 24 teams from previous 16.
