Ghana obliterated Ethiopia 5-0 in the Afcon 2019 qualifying group F match played at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi Ghana Sunday.

The Black Stars go joint top of the group on three points same as Sierra Leone who edged Kenya 2-1 yesterday in Freetown.

A brace from Raphael Dwamena and a goal each from captain Asamoah Gyan, John Boye and Ebenezer Ofori sealed the route for the coach Kwesi Appiah’s side.

With only ten minutes played, an initial dominance saw Gyan open the floodgates with his 50th international goal, which he widely celebrated.

Boye doubled the lead with a magnificent strike in the 14th minute – firing past a forest of defenders, who were tightly marking him.

Ofori grabbed the fourth in the 40th minute from close range – capitalizing on shambolic defending by the Walia Ibex back four to make it 3-0 heading into the breather.

Dwamena scored his first of the match two minutes into the second half before grabbing a brace a minute to the hour mark for a 5-0 final score.

Ethiopia will host Sierra Leone next year March in their next group match with Ghana travelling to Kenya to face the Harambee Stars.
