CAF has suspended Kenya international Ayub Timbe for three matches and fined him $10,000 for unsporting behavior.

Ayub courted trouble during Harambee Stars’ 2-1 bitter loss to Sierra Leone’s Lone Stars in the 2019 AFCON qualifier Group “F” match played at Siaka Stevens Stadium, Freetown on 10th June 2017 after he confronted Nigerian referee Ferdinand Udoh for unfavorable decisions against him.

In the ill-tempered match, Stars were reduced to ten men after Maritzburg FC defender Brian Mandela was shown a straight red card.

Julius Wuobay opened scoring for the hosts in the first half with the skipper Umaru Bangoura doubling the lead from the spot in the second stanza.

Girona striker Michael Olunga pulled one back for Stars with a well taken free-kick after Timbe well hacked down on the edge of the box.

With the suspension, the China-based speedy winner will miss the next group match at home against Ghana on 7th September 2018 at Kasarani.

He will also not be available for trip away to Ethiopia and the return match in Nairobi.

“I am disappointed with the verdict, which basically means that I won’t play in the upcoming three AFCON qualifiers,” said Timbe.

“As a player, I have always endeavored to adhere to the laws of the game, both off and on the pitch and it pains me to be denied the chance to represent my country, especially at this crucial period when we are trying to qualify for the 2019 AFCON.

“That notwithstanding is that however much I don’t agree with the verdict, I respect the decision by CAF and won’t be appealing against it,” explained Timbe.
