Algeria boss makes decision on potential move for Karim Benzema

Karim Benzema has been snubbed by his national team for over four years, and his hopes of joining another national team seem to be over.

If Karim Benzema and his agent had high hopes on the player’s international future with Algeria, those hopes have been squashed by the African side’s boss Djamel Belmadi.

Speaking in an interview with specialized football website DZFootball, the 2019 African Cup of Nations winner with Algeria dismissed that idea due to the talent his squad has up front.

“I have Baghdad Bounedjah, Islam Slimani, Andy Delort, Hillal Soudani. I’m very happy with the players I have,” Belmadi said.

Benzema’s Algerian descent played a key role in his desire to play for the African side, but the fact that he played over 81 international games for France would have made things a bit difficult when his case was brought up to FIFA’s board.

The striker has been snubbed by coach Didier Deschamps since he was involved in the alleged extorsion of former Les Bleus team-mate Mathieu Valbuena over a sex-tape scandal.

In fact, Benzema’s absence from the team seems to have something to do more with the lack of chemistry between himself and other French players, especially since Valbuena has not been called to play for the National Team since 2015.You might also like
