German-born Algerian Ahcene Ait-Abdelmelek has been appointed the new South Sudan’s Bright Stars coach on a one-year-deal.

Ahcene, who arrives in Juba on 5th March, will succeed Kator FC coach Bilal Felix who has been handling the national team on an interim basis.

His salary of $5,000 per month will be paid by Indian Transportation, Logistics and Construction Company Tristar Limited.

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports will pay his bonuses and cater for housing and transport.

Ahcene previously coached Burundi and Mali giants Djoliba AC.

He becomes the fourth foreign coach to handle the young nation after South Korea’s Lee Sung-Jea, Leo Adraa of Uganda and Serbian Zoran Dordevic.

Bilal remains the most successful of the lot having reached the quarterfinals of the 2015 Cecafa Senior Challenge in Ethiopia.

Under his watch the Bright Stars never conceded a goal or lost a game in normal time.
