Asante Kotoko fall to Zesco as both exit CAF Confed Cup

Asante Kotoko fell to devastating 2-1 defeat away to ZESCO United at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Sunday to crash out of this season’s Caf Confederations Cup.

The Ghanaians opened the scoring in Zambia, but ZESCO hit back with two goals in two minutes to bring an end to Kotoko’s continental journey.

Stephen Nyarko fired the visitors in front moments after rising from the bench after the interval.

Team Ya Ziko – desperate to end their winless run – levelled matters through Jesse Were in the 54th minute before taking the lead two minutes later through Kondwani Mtonga as the hosts ended their campaign on a high.

Both teams duly exit the competition, tied on seven points in Group C. Al-Hilal Omdurman advance as group winners following their 4-1 win over Nkana who will join the Sudan giants in the knockout stages.
