ASEC Mimosas are the 2018 Cote d’Ivoire champions for the second time on the bounce.

The record 26th title was confirmed Sunday after the Yellow and Black edged ASI 1-0 to open unassailable 14-point gap between them and second placed Sporting Gagnoa in the 14-team topflight.

Toure Amed grabbed the decisive goal in the 16th minute to send Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny into a celebratory mood.

The title is coach Siaka Traore’s side’s second in eight years and earns them a place in the CAF Champions League later this year.

Other African clubs, who have booked Champions League slots, include Al Ahly of Egypt and Esperance de Tunis of Tunisia.

Mimosas will now shift focus to the CAF Confederation Cup where they were Saturday pooled alongside Morocco’s Raja Casablanca, AS Vita Club of DR Congo and Aduana Stars of Ghana in group A.
