Banyana Banyana head coach Desiree Ellis and her team are brimming with confidence ahead of their Africa Women’s Cup of Nations Group A clash against Egypt in Limbe, Cameroon scheduled for Friday,25 November 2016.

The match has been billed as a do-or-die affair as both teams fight to finish in second position behind the Lioness of Cameroon. Banyana went down to an unfortunate 1-0 defeat to Cameroon, while Egypt beat Zimbabwe 1-0 in a contested victory.

A win for either side could put them in better position for the semi finals with both Cameroon and Zimbabwe scheduled to face each other in the other Group A encounter.

The hosts are clear on top of the log with six points having won all their two matches.

Nonetheless, Desiree believes Banyana have the upper hand having studied their opponent’s weaknesses ahead of the clash.

“We have worked hard with the video analysts and have studied the Egyptians thoroughly. We know their style of play, but the most important thing we must be concerned with is how we execute our own game plan,” said Ellis.

The coach added: “ “We do have a future in the tournament it is a must win against Egypt. We won’t underestimate Egypt. We have a clean bill of health and every player is available for selection.

” We have to play to our strength and not to that of the opponent. In 2014 (in Namibia) we were in similar situation after losing the first match against Cameroon and drawing Ghana in the next game. We then had to beat Algeria in the last match and we qualified to the semi-finals and I believe that experience will help carry us forward. We know how it is important to win against Egypt. This is our final and the players know what to do,”she said.

The game kicks off at 1800hrs East Africa time and will be live on Supersport 9 Channel.
