For the first time in their history, Bechem United won a major title after beating Okwawu United 2-1 in the 2015/16 Ghana FA Cup final on Sunday (4 September 2016) in Cape Coast.

Yaw Arnol scored twice to give the Premier League side victory, with Akoto Danso getting a consolation for the second-tier outfit.

After a scoreless first half, Arnol put Bechem in the lead in the 55th minute with a shot from the edge of the box.

Okwawu, winners of the annual knockout competition in 1986, levelled on 63 minutes when Danso latched on to a Maclin Ampadu low-cross and drove the ball into the net.

Arnol restored Bechem’s lead towards the end of the game connecting home an assist from Abednago Tetteh to seal victory for the ‘Hunters’.

Bechem will represent Ghana in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup, their first appearance in a continental club championship.
