Champions Jericho All Stars had a memorable day after being presented with the 2018 Betika Super 8 Champions League trophy by Brazil legend Ronaldinho Gaucho on Sunday 11 November at Camp Toyoyo grounds.

The decorated World Cup and Ballon D’Or winner watched Jericho put a dazzling second half performance to trounce TUK 3-0 on their way to their first Super 8 Champions League title and second silverware in a single season.

Excited fans graced the East Vs West finals in their thousands and gave the former FC Barcelona star a standing ovation as he stepped to present the trophy to Jericho who make history as first team to win Super 8 Premiership title and Champions League in one season.

Ronaldinho was the chief guest of the finals courtesy of gaming firm Betika who are hosting the star in Kenya. Betika sponsored this year’s edition of the off-season competition organized by Extreme Sports Limited.

Jericho received Ksh 100,000 for their achievement courtesy of Betika and Extreme Sports.

Man of the match Kelvin Ndung’u scored twice; doubling Jericho’s lead on the 56th minute, four minutes after midfielder George Awalla had opened the scoring.

Ndung’ u put the score line beyond doubt when he stabbed the third goal on the 88th minute to spark wild celebrations from a section of fans.

“It is a dream come true.” Said man of the match Kelvin Ndung’u who met the legend few weeks ago in Spain while shooting a TV commercial for Betika.

“We’ve met before in a different setting and now being able to showcase my skills in front of him is really inspirational because he is my role model, a player I looked up to when growing up.” He added.

TUK who had beaten Team Umeme 5-4 in penalties for the spot on the finals were honoured to reach thus far, according to their captain Steve Augo.

“It was not the result we had planned for but everything happens for a reason. It was not our day but we are happy we made it this far. I’d like to thank Super 8 for this opportunity, playing before Gaucho is an honor.” Augo said.

For the finals spot Jericho saw off Makadara Junior League SA 2-1 in the semis.

Earlier on Makadara Junior settled for third place after beating Team Umeme 2-1 in the play offs to take home Ksh 25,000.
