Bumper weekend in the Kenyan premier League across the Country

By Bonface Osano,

Kenyan Premier League  continues  this weekend with a total of six matches lined up in a bumper weekend that will see the likes of Nakuru Allstars seek redemption after losing 2 straight matches since being readmitted back to the league .

Nakuru All Stars Vs Western Stima

Nakuru All Stars will be facing a daunting task as they face Stima in an early kickoff match on Saturday 28, 2015 at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru to be beamed live on Superport 9 East.

The Peter Okidi side has lost the last two fixtures in turn  conceding  9 goals in the process against KCB and AFC Leopards respectively, the worst record thus far in 2015 season. On the other hand Western Stima will be coming buoyant into this game having cruised  past  City Stars 2-1 in their midweek fixture in their second win of the season   scoring a total of   4 goals and conceding  just two in the process.

It will remain to be seen if Nakuru All Stars will put to an end to  their poor form that has been  continuous from last season. Match kickoff at 1400 hrs.

Ulinzi Stars Vs AFC Leopards

In the second match of the day at the Afraha Stadium,  Ulinzi Stars will take  on a rejuvenated AFC Leopards side that has been blowing hot in their recent matches. The soldiers have injury  concerns with the likes of danger man   Ezekiel Otuoma  formerly with  Muhoroni Youth   nursinga  shin injury which he picked up in training last week.

Ulinzi  have a herculean task after they lost their midweek clash against Tusker on Wednesday going down 2-1.The soldiers under coach Robert Matano   will be seeking to record their second win of the season and recover from the bitter loss.

On the other hand AFC Leopards seems to have sharpened their claws under coach Zdravko Logarusic . Ingwe as they are famously known has so far registered two crucial back to back wins scoring 4 goals and conceding just one against City Stars and Nakuru All Stars despite huge financial problems the team has been facing recently after their   sponsor Mumias Sugar pulled out.

However, against the soldiers Ingwe is expected to face a tough opponent considering their last two matches were against the weeping boys of the league. Ingwe will be banking on Jacob Keli who has recovered his form  to continue with his magnificent  scoring touch that once saw him as  Kpl  top scorer and most valuable player as he has so far   netted two goals in two matches. Match kickoff at 1600 hrs.

Thika United Vs Muhoroni Youth

Thika United will be hosting Muhoroni Youth at the Thika Municipal Stadium. The two sides are yet to register a win in the 2015 season.

Thika United who are known to start the  season on a high have  however not shown the same resilience and determination so far this season  as they drew against Tusker 1-1 in the league opener before embarrassingly losing 1-3 to Mathare United at home in Thika only to recover and share the spoils with Ushuru in another midweek clash on Wednesday.

On the other hand Muhoroni will be playing their second match of the season, their first match was a barren draw away in Awendo against Sony Sugar FC.Coach Francis Baraza has his work cut out as he will be seeking to register his first win though away from home . Match kickoff at 1500 hrs.

KCB  Vs Chemelil Sugar

KCB will be seeking redemption against resolute Chemelil FC when they lock horns on Sunday 29, 2015 at Nyayo Stadium in a 2pm kickoff match. The bankers lost 3-1 to Bandari away in Mombasa in  midweek clash, this was after 6-2 thrashing of strugglers Nakuru All Stars over the weekend. They will be expecting to bounce back to winning ways against the sugar millers who have also been blowing hot and cold since losing to Gor Mahia.

2014 coach of the year Mike Muiruri on the other hand will be searching for the elusive 2015 season win, having recorded two draws and a loss at the hands of defending champions Gor Mahia.

City Stars Vs Tusker FC

City Stars will be facing another herculean task this Sunday when they faceoff with the 2011/2012 Kenya premier league champions Tusker FC at Nyayo. The Kawangware based side is winless so far in the 2015 season, losing 1-0 to AFC Leopards and 2-1 to Stima in their midweek clash on Wednesday to ensure the are in the lower reaches of the league table

On the other hand the brewers will be seeking to build on their midweek triumph over Ulinzi, all eyes will be on Jesse Were to provide goals for the coach Kimanzi lead side. This is expected to be an easy fixture for the well-oiled brewers who have assembled a highly skilled and expensive side as they hope to claw back and get regular wins . Match kickoff at 1600 hrs.

Sony Sugar FC Vs Ushuru FC

Away in Awendo Sony will be hosting the taxmen Ushuru at the   Awendo Green Stadium which is  known to bea hard hunting ground a   fortress that Us must surmount by fighting tooth and nail as Zedekiah “Zico”Otieno meets with Kenneth Kenyatta in another ding dong battle that will determine who walks home with all the three points .

This will be the millers second match of the season, their first was a draw against Muhoroni Youth.

Ushuru will come into this game inspired by their big win against Tusker last weekend.Injury  Ken Kenyatta side drew their midweek fixture against Thika United but will be hoping for a win away in Migori County. Match kickoff at 1500 hrs.
