Burundi and Gor Mahia full back Karim Nizigiyimana will miss the 2017 CECAFA Senior Challenge with Achilles tendon injury.

Karim injured his right foot while playing for Gor in a Kenyan Premier League match against Thika United mid last month after only fourteen minutes in action.

Scans showed he had torn his Achilles tendon and needed surgery which he underwent successfully in a Nairobi hospital on Thursday.

He will be discharged Saturday but according to doctor’s word, he can only kick a ball after three months.

For three seasons on the trot, Karim, known for his lovely runs on the right wing and on point crosses, has remained a core of the K’Ogalo side.

Gor have already won the 2017 KPL title for a record 16th time with Karim bagging his second with the Kenyan giants.

The former Rayon Sports player captained the Burundi Swallows in the 2015 Senior Challenge in Ethiopia.

He will however miss this season’s edition set for Kenya from 25th November to 9th December.
