Burundi Swallows coach Olivier Niyungeko has named a provisional 30-man team for the upcoming CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Kenya.

The home-based side will begin training Monday at the National Technical Center in Bujumbura.

CECAFA Executive Committee meeting in Sudan recently awarded Kenya the rights to host the oldest tournament in Africa for the first time since the last edition in Ethiopia in 2015.

Football Kenya Federation has since earmarked four towns to stage the event; they include Kisumu, Nakuru, Kakamega and Mombasa.

The political situation in the country however remains doubtful as the country heads to fresh presidential elections next week Thursday and it remains to be seen if the environment will remain conducive for hosting of such a tournament.

Kenya was stripped off the hosting rights to the 2018 CHAN due to among other things uncertain political situation.

Record winners Uganda with 14 titles are the defending champions.
