CAF CC: Kenyan side Bandari register victory against US Ben Guerdane from Tunisia

Kenyan side Bandari FC registered a 2-0 victory over US Ben Guerdane in the second round of their Caf Confederation Cup match played on Saturday.

The Dockers needed two second-half goals from Yema Mwana and Abdalla Hassan to secure the first leg victory against the Tunisian opponents.

Hassan’s 9th-minute effort was the first real attempt Bandari made to attack their guests but Santos Amota closed in on the Kenyan international to clear before he entered the box.

Amota made another vital clearance in the 12th minute when he blocked Bandari winger Cliff Kasuti who had been sent through by William Wadri.

Dos Santos’ managed to make way past Bandari’s defenders in the 17th minute but his shot deflected off Brian Otieno who was backpedalling. It was the first time Ben Guerdane managed to break a rather firm Bandari backline.

Wadri was unlucky not to find the back of the net after dancing past Hamza Hassine and Ben Hassen for only his final shot to roll out inches away from the left-hand side of the post in the 35th minute.

With Bandari’s attacks dwindling, Bernard Mwalala made a double change as he introduced Shaban Kenga for midfielder Danson Chetambe and Benjamin Mosha took Kasuti’s place in the 57th minute.

Mwana scored a deserved goal for Bandari in the 70th minute with a powerful header. Abdalla’s swinging cross into Ben Guerdane’s box was met by a rising Mwana who headed past Saber Salah in goal.

The Dockers got their second goal in the 74th minute from Abdalla who headed past a static Salah in the visitors’ goal. Wadri was the assist maker this time around as Bandari upped the tempo in the last 10 minutes of the match.

Bandari will have to defend their lead when they visit their opponents for the second leg match on September 27.
