Gor Mahia football club is the only team in Group D of the CAF Confederations cup that may not get affected by the exodus of players already registered by the continental football governing body if the CAF rules are looked into

According to CAF rules ,a team is allowed a maximum of 30 players before the tournament begins and can add the remaining if the team makes it to the group stages

Details from CAF shows that Group D leaders USM Algers registered 28 players and can only add two more ,Yanga can only add one player after they registered 29 players with Rayon Sports registering 27 needing only three players

Gor Mahia FC only registered 25 players meaning they can add 5 more players to aid them in the group stages and beyond

According to CAF rules ,past the Group stages a team will be allowed 7 new players from the 30 that had been registered earlier in the group stages .This rule only applies to the qualified teams to the quarter finals

Three teams in Yanga (Tanzania) ,Rayon Sports (Rwanda) and USM Alger (Algeria)/despite registering more players at the start of the tournament are more disadvantaged as they are set to lose some of their top stars

For instance ,Yanga have only one slot to fill in their remaining CAF Confederations match against Gor Mahia (Home and away) ,Rayon Sports away and USM Algers home with grapevine rife that they may lose four of their top players registered in this competition .Yanga can only add a player as things stand and must do everything possible to convince the players to remain at Jangwani to avoid an embarrassing display .

USM Algers could lose Ousman Darfalau(the Algerian league top scorer ) together with two others to European clubs with an additiom of only two with Rayon Sports facing a similar scenario

This complex case has been necessitated by the said clubs country league coming to and end and players are expected to move out and in searching for greener pastures

Gor Mahia only registered 25 players and the league is still on with most players tied to their contracts until the league ends .The Kenyan defending champions can add five players to boost their chances of making it to quarterfinal and add another seven when they qualify

Extract from the CAF CC regulations

USM Algers top the group with 4 points from 2 matches with both Gor and Rayon tied on 2 points .Yanga are last with a point

Both USM Algers and Yanga are out of next years Continentals (CAF CL and CAF CC)/ after failing to win their respective country leagues and cup competitions and must win the CAF Confederations to feature in next years CAF Champions league
