CAF CL: Generation Foot express anger over decision to postpone Zamalek clash

Senegalese club Generation Foot have expressed their anger at CAF’s decision to postpone their Champions League clash with Zamalek to Sunday.

The West African side holds a 2-1 aggregate lead in the teams’ first round tie and were expecting to face the White Knights in Cairo on Saturday night.

However, the tournament organisers made a late call to delay the game to Sunday night and move it to the Borg El Arab Stadium just outside of Alexandria.

“We were supposed to train on Friday, 24 hours ahead of the game, as per the rules and regulations of the CAF. Surprisingly we received a letter on Friday, September 27 at 4pm informing us that the game has been postponed to Sunday, September 29,” said the club’s communication director Talla Fall, as quoted by KingFut.

“How can a game be postponed 24 hours before it starts? It is impossible for us to play the game in Alexandria. We have rights and if we have to go all the way to enforce the law we’ll do it,” he concluded.

Generation Foot are looking not only to upset the Egyptian giants, buy also become the first Senegalese team to reach the group stage of the Champions League since Jean d’Arc in 2004.
