Etoile Sportive du Sahel beat Al Ahly SC 2-1 in the African Champions League semi-final first leg at Stade Olympique de Sousse, Sousse, Tunisia Sunday.

Alaya Brigul put the hosts in front in the 16th for a 1-0 lead at half time.

Substitute Saleh Gomaa, who replaced Wlid Azarou in the 65th minute, took just one minute to restore parity for the eight-time champions from a defensive blunder.

However, the 2007 champions were not done yet as Mohamed Amine Chermiti grabbed the winner in the 73rd minute with a bullet strike from range into the bottom corner of the net.

The victory was Sahel’s first over Al Ahly and it sparked wild celebrations from the fans that thronged the stadium.

It gives the them an edge heating into the reverse tie away in Alexandria, Egypt on 20th October.

The aggregate winner will face either USM Alger or Wydad Casablanca in the final.
