Wydad Casablanca held USM Alger to a barren draw in the African Champions League semi-final first leg at 5th July 1962 Stadium, Algiers Friday.

Despite the hosts bossing possession, they failed to turn it into goals.

The tie will be determined in the second leg in three weeks’ time in Casablanca Morocco.

Wydad eliminated defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns at the quarter-final stage before the home crowd in Rabat and will be hoping to take the same advantage to dispatch the Algerians.

Unlike the other semi-finalists, USM have never won the prestigious gong – finishing runners up to TP Mazembe in 2015.

On Sunday, Etoile du Sahel will welcome eight time champions Al Ahly in the other semi-final first leg clash at Olympic Stadium, Sousse, Tunisia.
