South Sudan Football Association Finance Committee chairperson Charles Udwar Ukech has added his voice to the growing list of those calling for FIFA, the world’s football governing body, to intervene in the body’s elections.

Udwar is alleging external interference in the process and partiality of the Electoral Committee, which he says is working for one candidate Mr. Lual, a challenger for SSFA president.

“I would like to bring to your attention the violation and conflict of interest within the SSFA electoral committee,” Udwar’s letter to the FIFA’s Director of Member Associations Mr. Veron Mosengo Omba reads in part.

He is questioning the composition of the electoral committee, which he says is leaning towards Mr. Lual.

“Mr. Lual was the person who organized the 5th March General Assembly in Juba. During the Extra Ordinary General Assembly, the election of the Electoral Committee was not free and fair.

“There were two groups of the members of the general assembly; these two groups came with two different lists of nominees for positions in the Electoral Committee with Lual’s faction carrying the day, as they were the majority.”

Udwar further alleges that the Electoral Committee has “illegally” manipulated list of delegates for the General Assembly from Bor and Kajwok football associations in favor of Lual.

He recommends Art 26 par 2 and 3 of the SSFA electoral code, which gives the right to FIFA to intervene in the electoral process at any time to monitor its integrity, to be evoked to allow the world’s football governing body to suspend the electoral process.

“Suspend the electoral process and appoint some members from FIFA/CAF to monitor the electoral process.

“Or appoint provisional administration for SSFA for 2 years as stipulated in Art 26 par 3.

“The provisional administration will be tasked to organize elections in Kajuok, Bor and Aweil Local Football Associations and any other association in a similar situation.”

Nasir and Kuajok Local Football Associations have also written to FIFA calling for the Electoral Committee to be disbanded for taking sides in the polls.

SSFA elections were scheduled to conclude this month with the elections of the president and members of the Executive Committee.
