As part of the preparations for the next African Women Cup of Nations, the Cameroon national team, the Indomitable Lionesses have been invited to take part in the 2018 South African Football Association Council (COSAFA) Women’s Football Friendly Tournament.

The COSAFA Women Football tournament is expected to begin on September 12-22, 2018 and will be hosted in Port Elizabeth, a city in South Africa located in Eastern Cape Province.

For 10 days, the southern part of Africa will vibrate to the rhythm of women’s football and the 6th edition will allow the ladies to express themselves and show their potential football.

With draws expected this Wednesday August 29, 12 teams will take part in the competition and will be divided into three pools made up of four teams each. The three countries that finish first of their group will reach the final and will be joined by the best second of all three hens.

The games will take place in two venues, Wilfson Stadium, with a capacity of 10,000 and the Gelvandale Stadium. With the Banyana Banyana of South Africa, reigning champions been tip favorite to retain their title, Zambia will also align with this increasingly popular competition as well as Zimbabwe, Botswana Zebras, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia and Swaziland.

The first edition of the COSAFA Women’s Championship was held in 2002 in Zimbabwe, with South Africa been crown as winners. So far, South Africans remain remind the most successful team haven won a total of four trophies since the tournament was launch. They emerged winners in 2002, 2006, 2008 and 2017).
