Africa Women’s Cup of Nations hosts Cameroon beat Egypt 2-0 in the tournament opener on Saturday evening at Palais des Sports in Yaounde.

Two goals coming from Aboudi Onguene in the first half and penalty from Ngono Mani in the second half were enough to make the hosts take the lead of Group A with 3 points pending the results of the Zimbabwe vs South Africa that starts in a moment.

Egypt had the better of the early exchanges, maintaining possession and looking more cohesive against a host team that started the match relying on ineffective long balls.
