The big money is there, an influx of foreign players–consensus’ concern is, can the awash of cash buy success for Buildcon?

The 2017 Zambia Super league term is nigh and as soon as the whistle is tooted, all spot lights on Buildcon. Why? for starters, their insane spending during the summer transfer window–which was seismic like Ahmad beating Issa Hayatou to the CAF Presidency.

For God sake, this is a side that, flashback in 2016, the only foreign players in their fold, were those Congolese players–cheap like fake Chinese jeans in Lusaka Kamwala market.

Smashed by the sun at Busiku Ground, while watching Buildcon, by then called AM Wielding, in the second tier against Livingstone Pirates. It never came proximity to my mind that, the following year at this time, this team would be stealing the limelight across Africa.

Social media across the continent, went buzzing when Buildcon named their starting line up, that had only foreign players, for their international friendly game against TP Mazembe at Levy Patrick Mwanawasa Stadium. Furthermore, the Zambian topflight debutants are grabbing headlines in Kenya, Uganda and part of West Africa.

As Buildcon face off with fellow newbies, Real Nakonde on match day one of this term, there is a possibility of a carbon copy to the TP Mazembe’s friendly story, of an all foreign starting line up.

Can money buy success for Buildcon?

A dose of shocks and surprises is healthy, albeit fairytales seldom occurs in football. It’s not secret weapon, being industrious pays off–in this context, spending big guarantees success in football.

The stakes have been heightened for the Ndola outfit with a team of auditors–pundits, waiting for scrutiny. Thus, this team must justify that, it is worth the money.

Top four is not too much to expect of Buildcon. Of course, they are new to Super league football but have assembled a very strong squad.
