Kenya’s leading betting firm “Sportpesa” has entered South Africa’s market by sponsoring ABSA Premiership side Cape Town City.

In the arrangement, which will be unveiled soon, Sportpesa will become the official title sponsor of the club, with their logo appearing in the front part of the jersey.

Cape Town City, who recently signed former SA international Benny McCarthy as their head coach, joins a growing list of clubs and institutions sponsored by betting giants.

They include Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards and Nakuru All Stars Kenya, Simba SC, Yanga SC and Singida FC Tanzania, Hull City and Everton FC England.

Sportpesa also sponsors the Football Kenya Federation, Kenya Rugby Union and both the Kenya 15s and 7s rugby teams.

The firm is also believed to be at advanced stages of entering Ugandan market.
