Uganda coach Moses Besena has named a 26-man provisional team for the upcoming CECAFA Senior Challenge in Kenya without on form KCCA forward Shaban Mohammed.
According to KCCA media officer Clive Kyazze, the former Onduparaka hit man is being preserved for the U20 COSAFA championships in Zambia.
“Shaban has been left out of the CECAFA squad likely because he will be drafted in the U20 COSAFA team,” Clive explained.
Shaban boasts six goals in the past three league fixtures including a hat-trick against Soana.
Besena has named a predominantly home-based team with only Simba SC’s defender Juuko Murushid getting the nod.
Attacking midfielder Allan Kateregga who is on loan at KCCA from Kenya’s AFC Leopards has been handed a maiden call up.
The regional tournament kicks-off this Sunday the 3rd to 17th December.
Uganda, who are the defending champions are pooled alongside guest team Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Burundi in group B of the tournament.
