2016 CECAFA Women’s Championship firm favorites the Harambee Starlets of Kenya produced another virtuoso performance against Zanzibar hammering the hapless islanders 11-0 to guard a 100% record in the tournament.

The Kenyan queens who are yet to concede a goal in the tournament that commenced on Sunday 11 in Jinja, Kampala, have thus far hit 19 past their three opponents, to finish top of group “A” with three wins out of three.

Zanzibar on the other hand have been the whipping girls of the second edition of the regional competition which they lifted in1986 and have to this end soaked in 26 goals.

The hugely changed Starlets outfit that had eight new faces in it hit the ground running at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru with Christine Nafula commencing the annihilation in the 12th minute.

Nafula gabbed a brace at the half hour mark with a beauty of a goal before Jacky Ogol made it 3-0 on the dot for a comfortable 3-0 at half time with all pointers indicating a whitewash.

Three minutes into the second stanza Mercy Achieng hit the fourth. Coach David Ouma then introduced the deadly trio of Nedy Atieno, Mary Kinuthia and Esse Akidi for Doreen Nabwire, Elizabeth Ambogo and Mercy Achieng with devastating effects for an already beaten Zanzibar.

Nafula got her hat-trick in the 69th minute and Ogol a brace a minute later for a 6-0 handball score line, but they were not letting up just yet, no.

Fresh blood Esse netted her fourth of the competition two minutes after Ogol’s and Corazone Aquino made it 8-0 with her first of the afternoon in the 79th minute before hitting a brace in the 89th minute to make it 10-0 in favor of Starlets.

Esse who is now joint top scorer of the tournament with five goals same as Aquino scored the 9th goal in the 82nd minute.

Aquino altered the score line further with the second hat-trick of the match a minute into the added time to end the fixture 11-0.

Kenya joins Tanzania and Ethiopia into the round of four; the other semifinalist will be decided between hosts Uganda and Burundi.
