CHAN 2016: Players to watch-Part 1

The 2016 African Nations Championship is nearly here.It promises to be a campaign to remember in which a number of players will be staking their claim to be tournament’s elites.

Here’s a number of players expected to light up the fourth edition of the African Nations Championship to be staged in Rwanda.

NAME: Conlyde Luchanga.
COUNTRY: Zambia.Conlyde Luchanga after scoring for Zambia against Mozambique.

DETAILS: From ‘rags to riches”,from an ordinary boy in Maramba Township to Zambia Super league young player for the year 2015’.That’s the story of the 17 year old striker who opened his scoring account on his Chipolopolo debut against Mozambique during the 2016 CHAN qualifiers just few minutes after coming in as a second half substitute.He also scored a scorcher for Zambia against the Amaglug of South Africa at the U23 AFCON in Senegal.

Luchanga who just completed his transfers move from Lusaka Dynamos to Power Dynamos is a terrific young striker possessing an elegant kind of play,can easily beat defenders in the air and on the ground using his height and dribbling skills.

In the absence of the ineligible Westone Kalego who recently joined AC Leopards,Luchanga will be the main man upfront for Zambia at the 2016 Africa Nations Championship.

NAME: Farouk Miya.
COUNTRY: Uganda.Miya

DETAILS : Farouk Miya had a tremendous year both at club level as well as with the Ugandan national team.He helped the Kobs dismantling Rwanda during the 2015 U23 AFCON qualifiers,scored a brace against Togo in the 2018 FIFA Club World Cup qualifiers and led The Cranes to the 2015 DSTV Cecafa Cup title including scoring 3 goals on the way.

The Vipers forward will be eyeing for a replica of his 2015 eye catching form at CHAN.

NAME: Fekhredinne Ben Youssef.
COUNTRY: Tunisia.

DETAILS: Fhekedinne found his way back to the Tunisian league at the beginning of the 2015/16 season after a ho-hum spell with Metz in France.This time with Esperance and not his former club CS Sfaxien.

Thus far,Youseff has netted five times including the winner for Esperance against his former side CS Sfaxen.Experience,is what he iss bringing to the Carthiage Eagles,having featured at AFCON in South Africa.

NAME: Usman Mohamad.
COUNTRY: Nigeria.Usman-Mohammed

DETAILS: A versatile midielder who can be either be used as a central midfielder as well as for attacking.The FC Taraba skipper is a former street kid who found his way to the Super Eagles.

Usman helped the Dream team to secure a berth at Rio 2016 Olympics and to emerged as winners of the 2015 AFCON U23.
He will be a key player for Nigeria in Rwanda.
