Cameroon have suffered their second consecutive defeat at the ongoing 2018 Africa Nations Championship (Chan).

The Indomitable Lions went down 1-0 to Angola at Le Grand Stade Agadi in Morocco this evening in a Group D clash.

The game got off to a cagey start with the opening few minutes marred by mistimed tackles, with the first shot in anger falling to Junior Awono in the ninth minute.

His volley had Landu Mavanga on his toes, but lucky for the Angola glovesman the ball was always drifting wide.

Palancas Negras looked the more dangerous with Antonio Josto and Herenilson Carmo causing Cameroon problems down the wing and Afonso Cabungula keeping the Indomitable Lions defenders busy.

Josto had a chance to score in the 19th minute, but the wide-man slipped at the point of contact.

Angola increased pressure on their opponents and their efforts were rewarded at the half-hour mark when Bertnard Eko’o fouled Vladimir Felix in the box and the referee did not hesitate to point to the spot.

Ricardo Estevao stepped up and calmly slotted in the penalty to hand the Angolans the lead in the 30th minute.

Having seen his side take the lead, Srdan Vasiljevic would’ve urged his troops to see out the rest of the half unscathed, but his wish was not Gaspar’s command as he saw a yellow in stoppage time.

In a way, Cameroon played tactical football as they defended their lead thus and giving them the freedom to hit Angola on the counter.

This tactic almost paid dividends as Pangop Frantz saw his shot on 62 minutes fly just over. Awono, brimming with confidence, teed up his fellow midfielder whose shot cleared the crossbar by mere centimeters.

Eric Messi saw his shot blaze over Landu Mavanga’s goal in the 71st minute, but still Angola were creating the better chances.

Five minutes later,Antonio Justo the shook off his marker before seeing his thunderous left-footed shot from way out fly straight at Jean Kalati with eight minutes remaining.

Willy Namedji came even closer with his free-kick from an acute angle in the 88th minute cannoning off the outside of the post.

In the end Angola were good value for their win while Cameroon sunk to their second straight defeat.
