Just a week after winning 2017 Cosafa Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe failed to produce the same form when they fell 1-0 to Namibia in the first leg of the 2018 African Championship qualifier(CHAN) played at the Sam Nujoma stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The opening stanza of the game saw both sides huffing and puffing as they looked for an equaliser with numerous chances wasted in the entertaining game.

Namibia looked determined as the first half came to an end with Hendrik Somaeb scoring the all important goal with a cool finish to give Namibia a deserved 1-0 lead.

Zimbabwe came back from the half time break rejuvenated firing from all cylinders with wave after wave of attack but the Namibia defence remained relentless thwarting all attempts frustrating the Warriors strikers.

The second leg will take place next week in Harare on July 23 with Zimbabwe having to score at least a goal to stand any chance of reaching CHAN 2018 in Kenya.
