Eric Tinkler  has been sacked by Chippa United with the club confirming that the two parties had parted ways amicably, on Sunday.

The Chilli Boys are down in the relegation zone in 14th place on the Absa Premiership standings with 10 points from 12 games.

The 48-year-old was appointed in August 2018, after the sacking of Dan Malesela and lost his opening game against SuperSport United before defeating Baroka, drawing with Golden Arrows and beating Free State Stars.

Veteran midfielder Teko Modise has revealed the astonishing truth about how Orlando Pirates boss Irvin Khoza robbed him of an opportunity to play in Europe.

Since then though, Chippa have lost three league games and crashed out of the Telkom Knockout while drawing just twice.

They were last defeated 1-0 by AmaZulu, who were rooted to the bottom of the table, prompting club bosses to act.

The Chilli Boys confirmed the news on its official Twitter account saying, “the club confirms that it has parted ways amicably with head coach Eric Tinkler”.

“The club furthermore wishes to confirm Joel Masutha as the interim coach until the end of the season.”

Masutha has history with the PE-based club, having served as an assistant coach to Roger Sihkhane back in 2004.

Since leaving Cape Town City for SuperSport United at the end of the 2016/2017 season, Tinkler lasted just nine months at the Tshwane club with him now being sacked again after just three months.

Up next for Chippa is an away clash with Cape Town City on December 11.
