Wydad Casablanca lost 3-2 to Asian Champions Urawa Red Diamonds in the FIFA World Cup Championships fifth place playoff at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium, UAE Tuesday to exit the competition winless in sixth place.

Wyad went down 1-0 to Mexico’s Pachuka in their opening match Saturday to crush out of the main cup.

Mauricio Antonio grabbed a double in the 17th and 59th minutes with Yosuke Kashiwagi adding the other in the 25th minute to seal the win and fifth spot finish for the Japanese.

Ismael El Haddad scored for Wydad in the 20th minute with Red Hajhouj grabbing a late penalty to end the match 3-2.

African clubs have not reached the final of the global event since DRC’s TP Mazembe lost to Italy’s Inter Milan 3-0 in the 2013 final.
