The visitors made their pressure tell around the hour mark when Patrick Phiri found the back of the net with a clinical finish to level matters, 1-1.

Malawi’s joy, though, was short-lived when Comoros re-took the lead in the 70th minute when a swift passing moved ended with Nasser Chamed finding the net after a deadly strike, 2-1.

Malawi tried to find their way back into the match, but Comoros defended stoutly to pick up their first win off their qualifying campaign.
