Confederation Cup Round Up-CHAN 2016 players stir for respective clubs

The 2016 CHAN  that ended in Rwanda was one of the most successful tournaments of the competitions. The tournament saw Congo DR  beat Mali 3-0 to win the trophy for the second time.

Most players that played crucial roles for  country were also instrumental for respective clubs in the Club Competitions across Africa.

Soka25east looked at different clubs that had some of the stars that featured in the CHAN and sampled the following. 

Police FC 3-1 Atlabara

We  start from the host Nation Rwanda where Police FC boasting of five players that featured for Amavubi outclassed visiting South Sudan side Atlabara 3-1 in a match played at the Stade Nyamirambo in Kigali. Danny Usengimana who was part of the Amavubi squad scored the third goal with Fabrice Twagizimana and Isaie Songa adding the other. khamis Leon pulled one back for the visitors. Police paraded the likes of Innocent Habyarimana, Amran Nshimiyimana, Ngirishuti Mwemere and Rashid Kalesa

Harare City 3-2 AS Adema

Harare City, Zimbabwe’s domestic cup winners fought hard to beat visiting Madagascar side As Adema 3-2 in a match  that all the players that scored featured for the Zebras in the CHAN tournament. Ronald Chitiyo-Rooney  scored the first goal before Raphael Manuvire-Ozil  added a brace. The match also had players like William Manondo and Francisco Zekumbawira-Toti  in the squad that featured in the CHAN. The Islanders got the vital away goals via Nomenjanahay Rajaoniay and Voavy Kassah. 

St Eloi Lupopo 2-0 Bandari

Kenyan domestic cup winners Bandari found themselves in an unfamiliar position as they went down in Lubumbashi to big boys St Eloi Lupopo who were returning to continental cup after they last loss to Sofapaka in the second round. Lupopo had defender Junior Baometu who featured in the CHAN and had a good defensive pact partnership with captain Joel Kimwaki. mutshambo Mugalia and Makambo Magwanga both scored for a huge advantage ahead of the return leg in Nairobi. 

Bakay-Djan (Mali)  1-1Stade Gabesien(Tunisia) 

One of the scorers in Tunisia’s 5-0 drubbing of Niger  Essifi  Hichem also netted an away goal for the Tunisian side in a match that featured also Ahmed Hosni.

SC Gagnoa (Ivory Coast)  2-0 USFAS(Burkinafaso) 

Ivorian keeper who won match of accolade twice Abdoul Karim Cisco for Sporting Club de Gagnoa was again instrumental for his home club as they beat USFAS of Burkinafaso 2-0.he was the only member of his club that featured for the Ivorians. He was instrumental in Ivorians 3-0 win over Cameroon and also their penalty triumph over Guinea. 

Diables Noirs 1-2 African Sports

Another member of the Ivorian squad Soualio Dabila Ouattara helped his club African Sports shock Congo giants Diables Noirs 1-2 in Brazzaville’s  Massach Debat stadium. Another player Yase Marius Gregoire Okpekon also featured in the clash. 

Isaac Muleme, Kiiza Martin and Kirya Ambrose who all featured for the cranes in the CHAN all played instrumental role for the Jogoos as they shocked AL Khartoum 0-1 any in Sudan. The lone goal was scored by Tadddeo Lwanga.
