Congo-Brazzaville drew 1-1 with DR Congo in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification Group G match on Sunday.

The draw saw the Red Devils and the Leopards remain third, and second respectively on the group standings

The two teams locked horns at the Stade Alphonse Massemba-Débat in the city of Brazzaville.

The deadlock was broken five minutes before the half-hour mark and it was the Leopards, who opened the scoring.

Kabongo Kasonga, who plies his trade in Egypt for Zamalek, beat Congo-Brazzaville goalkeeper Chancel Massa to make it 1-0 to DR Congo.

However, the lead only lasted for 13 minutes as the Red Devils restored parity through their star forward Thievy Bifouma.

The Turkey-based striker beat DR Congo shot-stopper Ley Matampi to make it 1-1 for Congo-Brazzaville much to the delight of the home crowd.

The score was 1-1 at the interval between Congo-Brazzaville and DR Congo.

A relatively quiet second-half followed as the two teams battled in a rain-soaked pitch.

The Red Devils and the Leopards created a few goal-scoring opportunities which they could not convert.

Ultimately, the encounter ended in a 1-1 stalemate with DR Congo having contained Congo-Brazzaville in the latter stages of the game.
