National soccer team, Taifa Stars, beat Malawi 2-0 to begin the 2017 Cosafa Castle Cup on a high in a match played at Moruleng Stadium in South Africa on Sunday evening.

Yahya Ramadhan justified his inclusion in the team when he netted a brace  in the first 20 minutes with the first coming in the 13th minute when Elias Maguli set up Ramadhan through a cross.

He then doubled the lead in the 18th minute with a cracker at the edge of the box in the highly energized match dominated by the Malawi side.

Malawi started very strongly but the Tanzania boys held on till the end for a famous win.Kamuzu Barracks’s Dalisto Saikesi missed converting from a free kick by Lucky Malata in the early minutes of the match in perhaps the only open chance created by Malawi.

Elias Maguli’s goal-bound shot was stopped by Kakhobwe in goal in the 32th minute but then Maguli earned a yellow card for diving after he had beat the entire Tanzania defence.

Aishi Manula was impressive in goal as he was kept busy throughout the match with the well organized Malawi launching attack after attack.The big Azam man in Tanzania’s goal again stopped another effort by Francis Mulimbika in the 42nd minute to keep the boys in the game.

Inexperience was evident in Tanzania’s defense as the backline gave away more than 5 free-kicks but their opponents failed to take advantage of the situation.

Good start for the Tanzanian side who are guests in the tournament and a plenty food for thought for Flames coach Ronny van Geneudhen qnd his charges ahead of their next Group A match aganist Mauritius on Tuesday.

In another match at the Moruleng Stadium,Angola hammered Mauritius 1-0 in a game that the Maputo boys controled from the start.

Augusto Quibeto netted inside four minutes the determining goal of the match.

He collected the ball on the edge of the box and turned superbly to rifle the ball home with a sublime finish.

Clear-cut chances were few and far between in the game, but Angola had another opportunity to double their advantage later on. When Mauritius goalkeeper Kevin Jean-Louis ensures the score remained 1-0 with a brilliant save from a Nelson Da Luz header.

At the final whistle scored remained 1-0 in favour of a dominant Angola.
