Danny Jordaan gets key advisory role to CAF President Motsepe

South Africa football Association(SAFA) President Danny Jordaan  has been appointed as a special advisor on sports and marketing to CAF President  Patrice Motsepe

Jordaan’s lobbying has been rewarded with a role in the upper echelons of the African game, advising Motsepe on sports and marketing. “CAF president‚ Dr Patrice Motsepe‚ has appointed SA Football Association (SAFA) president Dr Danny Jordaan as adviser to the president in charge of sport and marketing‚” SAFA said in a statement.

“The former FIFA World Cup 2010 CEO has vast experience in this area‚ having served on FIFA’s marketing and television board as well as CAF’s marketing in the past.

“Dr Jordaan‚ who was CAF vice president until last month’s elective congress in Morocco‚ served in various departments during the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany and 2014 World Cup in Brazil and his recent appointment will add much-needed value in CAF’s marketing and competitions departments.”

Alongside Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Amaju Pinnick, Jordaan campaigned heavily during Motsepe’s bid to became the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The president of the South African Football Association (SAFA) accompanied the billionaire businessman on his travels around the continent as well as at the Club World Cup in Qatar.

Jacques Anouma was appointed senior special adviser to the new CAF president. In the months leading up to the presidential elections of CAF in March, the Ivorian was among the candidates running against Motsepe, but, like Augustin Senghor from Senegal and Ahmed Yahya from Mauritania, Anouma withdrew from the election at the 11th hour to clear the way for Motsepe’s coronation by acclamation.
