Central African Republic will be aiming for what would arguably be the shock of the round when they face the Democratic Republic of Congo in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Sunday.

The Wild Beast beat their more illustrious hosts 2-0 in the reverse fixture in Bangui with goals from Vianney Mabidé and Junior Gourrier steering the country to a surprise win.

Doing so in Kinshasa this weekend will eclipse that feat, but with 80 000 supporters behind DR Congo, it is an unlikely scenario.

A draw will be enough for the Leopards to book their place at next years showpiece, defeat could also prove to be sufficient for Florent Ibengé troops – as one of the best second-placed teams – with CAR needing nothing but victory to book a ticket to Gabon.

DR Congo top Group B with 12 points with CAR on 10 points from five fixtures, Angola and Madagascar have already been eliminated.

Everton winger Yannick Bolasie will lead the two-time champions charge with top scorer Cedric Bakambu missing due to injury. Captain Youssuf Mulumbu, though, could return to the starting eleven.

Kick-off at Stade des Martyrs is scheduled for 19h30 CAT.
