Djibouti failed to bag a win at home as they succumbed to a 3-0 loss during their 2017 CAF Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier on Friday afternoon at the Stade El Hadj Gouled in Djibouti.

Goals from Naim Sliti, Hamdi Harbaoui and Taha Khenissi ensured Henry Kasprerczak’s men walked away as victors.

The victory means Djibouti remain rooted at the bottom of Group A with zero points next to their name with one match to wrap their qualifying campaign..

Although the hosts were looking for a victory at home to restore their pride, they failed to contain the strong attack from the Carthage Eagles.

The Shoremen of the Red Sea succumbed to pressure and conceded as early as the 15th minute when the visitors found the back of the net through Sliti.

On the stroke of half time, the hosts failed to clear their lines and allowed the visitors to double their lead through Harbaoui. It was 2-0 at the interval.

Upon their return, Nouredinne Gharsalli’s men tried all they could to pull one back but couldn’t penetrate the North Africans defence.

In the 59th minute, Khenissi made it three for the visiting Tunisians and nailed the final nail in the coffin, thus ensuring they return home with the full three points.

The win has elevated the Tunisians to pole position with 10 points. They will now wait to see the outcome of the match between Liberia (who have nine points) and Togo on Sunday.
