CAF’s Executive Committee meeting in Lagos, Nigeria Saturday has confirmed that Egypt will replace Kenya at the 2018 CHAN to be hosted by Morocco.

Kenya were stripped off the hosting rights to the tournament due to unpreparedness and hence lost the hosts’ slot.

Egypt lost to the new hosts Morocco in the qualifiers and were therefore the natural candidates to take Kenya’s place according to CAF’s rules.

It will be Egypt’s first appearance at the event graced purely by home-based professionals since its inception in 2009.

The tournament will run from 12th January to 4th February 2018.

Below are the 16 qualifiers

Northern Zone: Egypt, Libya, Morocco
Eastern Central Zone: Uganda, Sudan
Central Zone: Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Congo
Western Zone A: Guinea, Mauritania
Western Zone B: Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Ivory Coast
Southern Zone: Angola, Namibia, Zambia.
