Record Egyptian Premier League champions Al Ahly edged ENPPI 1-0 at Petro Sport Stadium, Cairo Sunday to move a point away from a fourth straight title with six matches to play.

Ayman Ashraf netted the lone goal in the 3rd minute to secure the Red Devils their 24th win of the season.

With 39 titles already in the bag, the nationalists are arm stretch away from a 40th crown that will surely cement their place as the most dominant and successful Egyptian club.

Ahly’s arch rivals Zamalek SC, who are placed third in the current campaign can only fight for runners-up finish with stiff competition from second placed Ismaily.

With the league title as good as secured, Al Ahly’s full focus is expected to turn to the African Champions League where they are chasing an elusive 9th honor.

The coach Hossam El-Badry’s side finished runners-up to Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca in last year’s campaign and will be gunning to go all the way this season.

Ahly are one leg into the groups stage of the Africa’s top clubs championships after thumping CF Mounana of Gabon 4-0 in the first leg of the round of 32.
