Ndola based club Zesco United will this afternoon face a reality check after their exlemptary exploits in the CAF champions league where they sailed for their maiden semi finals ,a first for any Zambian club.

Zambia has won the African cup of Nations before and the football mad nation has however been deprived of a club competition trophy.this could change with Zesco who are set to meet South African side Mamelodi Sundowns targeting a final slot and eventually the coveted trophy .

Continental club tourney kept aside,the Ndola based club owned by National electricity suppliers ZESCO will host another namesis in Power Dynamos owned by a subsidiary Copper belt Energy Corporation

Zambians call this particular clash the electric derby considering their connection with electricity .others may call it a rivalry match

On paper Zesco looks stronger but again Power Dynamos ,the 1990 African Cup winners now Confederations cup have been on the upward rise going six matches unbeaten with their recent triumph being a 2-1 defeat of leaders Zanaco in Kitwe

For two seasons on the contrary Power haven’t beaten the Ndola club with the last win being in 2014 august .however the Kitwe based club that plays at the magnificent Arthur Davies Stadium beat Zesco in the opening curtain raiser of the league

Going into today’s match,Zesco are energized by their shock 2-2 draw at Cairo a giants multiple CAF champions league winners Al Ahly effectively knocking them out after Moroccan Wydad beat Asec 2-1.

The Kitwe giants on the contrary will be sweating on the unavailability of 6 goal man Fwayo Tembo who is away on trial .Tembo has been the man in their recent resurgence scoring a goal and assisting in their win over Zanaco.

Kenyans will also join their Zambian counterparts in watching the match considering their bilateral cordial relationship orchestrated by social media activities between the two countries and also the presence of three Kenyans in the Zesco team.
